Every year for the past 15 years, SC del Sol has run a Soccerfest/Picture Day. It is an opportunity for the whole Club to come together in a fun, carnival type atmosphere and share in what is always an extremely enjoyable day. There are two primary purposes behind Soccerfest: 1) Individual and team photos. 2) Fundraising.
1) The fundraising aspect has two components; one that benefits the Club and one that benefits the teams. Every team in the Club donates a gift basket that is auctioned off in a silent auction type format. We have had some extremely creative baskets over the years that have raised a lot of money. This year is no different! The proceeds raised from the auction go to offset some of the many (and increasing) expenses the Club incurs such as field costs, office costs, staff costs and AYSA registration fees. As a non-profit organization every penny counts!
2) Additionally, every team in the Club has the option of running a booth where they can sell goods or fun type services and keep all of the cash. The more creative the product or service the more money the team will raise. This year we have more booths than we have ever had! Anyone is allowed to attend to tell family and friends and all of your social networks.
2013 Charities Supported
THE FOUNDATION FOR BLIND CHILDREN and HOPEKIDS are two wonderful local charities. There will be collection bins placed around the field so people can donate old soccer gear. Anything will help in any condition. The children whose lives are changed by the good work that these 2 organizations do will benefit from the items that we collect. http://www.seeitourway.org/ and http://www.hopekids.org/
BALLS WITHOUT BORDERS – please bring any old soccer balls. One of our SC del Sol players will be collecting soccer balls and shipping them to Balls Without Borders. The balls are then sent to children in remote parts of the world.
FOOTHILLS ANIMAL RESCUE will also be in attendance. FAR is a no-kill animal shelter in North Scottsdale. Over 60,000 cats and dogs are killed annually in Phoenix. They need families to adopt, foster, or simply donate time to the shelter. http://foothillsanimalshelter.org/
